What is Swamp Soccer?
The rules of swamp soccer combine elements and regulations from several sports, primarily football, but most importantly, the playing surface is more or less soft, and therefore the referee is on the field to ensure player safety.
Swamp soccer is played in July on Friday and Saturday across 20 fields. The playing field size is approximately 60 x 35 meters. The tournament jury reserves the right to move matches to another field independently for player safety. Field changes may especially occur on Saturday afternoon – therefore, remember to check the field number and any updated match schedules at the tournament office booth.
In the competitive series, team uniforms must be consistent. In other series, humorous outfits are allowed. However, it is forbidden to use playing attire that could harm opponents. Playing without a uniform is also not allowed. Footwear must not have metal studs or similar spikes, and they must not pose a danger to other players. Jewelry and watches must be removed before the game.
Teams must ensure they are ready at the correct field at the scheduled game time – the acceptable waiting time is a maximum of 5 minutes. Being late for a match = forfeiture. A forfeited match will result in a 1-0 win for the team present. Teams must consider the possibility of traffic delays in their schedules. Match schedules may also change due to cancellations, so teams are advised to check the game schedule on the morning of the match day. The match duration is 2 x 10 minutes.
